Bar Exam Results 2026 – The Supreme Court (SC) will release the 2026 Philippine Bar Exam results, including the complete list of passers and topnotchers, after the special en banc session in January 2027, 3-4 months after the grueling exams.
A total of 12,029 law graduates took the first day of the sixth digitalized and regionalized Bar Examinations on September 6, 2026, at 15 local testing centers nationwide. The examinations, scheduled on September 6, 9, and 13, are being conducted under the leadership of Supreme Court Associate Justice Samuel Gaerlan, chairperson of the 2026 Bar Examinations Committee.

Bar Exam Results Release Date
The Supreme Court is targeting January 2027 for the release of the 2026 Bar Examination results, allowing examinees and their families to spend the Christmas holidays without having to wait for the results.
During a press conference, 2026 Bar Examinations Chairperson Samuel Gaerlan said the results will be released after the holiday season.
“Everybody must have to enjoy the holiday. So I’m referring to Christmas holiday. So we will release the results after the holiday season. So it will be in January,” Gaerlan said.
On the day of the results release, the Supreme Court is expected to display the list of successful examinees on LED walls at the SC courtyard along Padre Faura Street in Manila.
As in previous years, the results are also expected to be published on the Supreme Court’s official website and official social media accounts on X and Facebook.
Testing Centers
The 124th Philippine Bar Examinations were conducted simultaneously at 15 local testing centers across Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

The SC once again employed Examplify, a secure computer-based testing program that allows examinees to take the examinations using their own devices. For the 2025 Bar Examinations, aspiring lawyers took the tests in person at their designated venues, under the supervision of proctors and through closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
2026 Bar Statistics
The Supreme Court reported that 12,029 of the 13,441 admitted applicants took the first day of the 2026 Bar Examinations. This represents about 89.5% of the applicants cleared to take this year's Bar.
Of the 12,029 examinees who took the first day, 6,773 are female and 5,256 are male. The youngest examinee is 24 years old, while the oldest is 84 years old. The batch also includes 304 persons with disabilities (PWDs) and 285 senior citizens.

List of Topnotchers and Top Schools
For the 2026 Bar Examinations, the Supreme Court is expected to release the list of topnotchers and top-performing law schools, similar to the format used in previous Bar examinations.
For context, the 2020/21 Bar Examinations followed a different approach. Instead of releasing a traditional list of topnotchers, the Court recognized examinees who demonstrated “exemplary performance” in the licensure examination.
Coverage of Examinations
The 2026 Bar Examinations covered the following core bar subjects and their respective weights:
1. Political and Public International Law (15%)
2. Commercial and Taxation Laws (20%)
3. Civil Law (20%)
4. Labor Law and Social Legislation (10%)
5. Criminal Law (10%)
6. Remedial Law, Legal and Judicial Ethics with Practical Exercises (25%)
Bar Exam Passing Grade
A Bar examinee generally needs to obtain a 75% general weighted average to pass the Bar Examinations. The total weighted score is computed based on each Bar subject’s assigned weight and the examinee’s raw score as a percentage of the maximum possible score.
Under the Rules of Court, an examinee is deemed to have successfully passed the Bar if they obtain a general average of 75%. However, the Supreme Court en banc has the discretion to adjust the passing percentage, as it has done in previous Bar Examinations.
For the 2025 Philippine Bar Examinations, the passing grade was set at 75%.
In the 2024 and 2019 Bar Examinations, the Supreme Court lowered the passing percentage from 75% to 74%.
In earlier examinations, the Court also lowered the passing percentage to 70% in 2012, and to 73% in both 2013 and 2014.
Previous Bar Exams
The 2025 Bar Examinations recorded a 48.98% passing rate, with 5,594 of the 11,420 examinees passing the exam. Jhenroniel Rhey Timola Sanchez of the University of the Philippines emerged as the topnotcher with a score of 92.7000%.
The 2024 Bar Examinations posted a 37.84% passing rate, with Kyle Christian Tutor of the University of the Philippines emerging as the topnotcher after scoring 85.7700%.
In 2023, the passing rate was slightly lower at 36.77%. Ephraim Porciuncula Bie of the University of Santo Tomas topped the examinations with a score of 89.2625%.
The 2022 Bar Examinations recorded a 43.47% passing rate, with University of the Philippines College of Law graduate Czar Mathew Gerard Torres topping the list with a score of 88.8083%.

Philippine Bar Exam Overview
The Philippine Bar Examinations are considered among the most challenging professional licensure examinations in the country for aspiring lawyers. Unlike other professional licensure exams administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), the Bar Examinations are exclusively administered and supervised by the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court conducts the Bar Examinations pursuant to Article VIII, Section 5 of the 1987 Constitution, which grants the Court the power to promulgate rules concerning admission to the practice of law.
The Bar is widely regarded as a rigorous examination because of its broad coverage of legal subjects and the extensive preparation required. In recent years, the passing rate has generally ranged from around 30% to 50%, although it varies from year to year.
